The Sokolo League has been a beacon of excitement and opportunity for football enthusiasts in Uganda. From September 2023 to the present, our leagues have brought together teams from various communities, schools, and academies, fostering a spirit of competition, teamwork, and fair play.

2023 Community League: A Thrilling Start

Our inaugural season saw six teams compete in a home-and-away format, playing 11v11 matches every weekend from September 3rd to November 12th, 2023. The participating teams were:

  • Lapaz Tula Soccer Academy (CHAMPIONS)
  • Walokoka Football Academy
  • Soul Winners Soccer Academy
  • Rangers Football Club
  • Sokolo Football Academy
  • Masavu Football Club

Junior League: Nurturing Young Talent

Our Junior League, which ran from December 6th, 2023, to January 25th, 2024, featured three age categories: U9, U12, and U14. The participating teams were:

U9

  • Namugona Junior Team (CHAMPIONS)
  • Sokolo Football Academy A
  • Soul Winners Soccer Academy
  • Walokoka Football Academy
  • Gifted Stars Soccer Academy
  • Mc Mariachi Football Academy
  • Sokolo Football Academy B
  • Rangers Academy
  • Lapaz Tula Soccer Academy
  • Vikings Soccer Academy

U14

  • Sokolo Football Academy (CHAMPIONS)
  • Soul Winners Soccer Academy
  • Walokoka Football Academy
  • Lapaz Tula Soccer Academy
  • Rangers Academy
  • Gifted Stars Soccer Academy
  • Nansana Young Stars
  • Vikings Soccer Academy

Schools League: Education through Football

The Sokolo Schools League, which took place from March 3rd to May 5th, 2024, brought together six schools in a competitive 11v11 league. The participating schools were:

Secondary Schools

  • Central College Secondary School (CHAMPIONS)
  • Savior Secondary School
  • African Muslim Secondary School
  • City Revival Secondary School
  • Nkoba Islamic Secondary School
  • Kinawa High School Kawempe

Primary Schools: Developing Young Players

Our Primary League, which ran from March 2nd to April 6th, 2024, featured six teams playing 7v7 matches. The participating teams were:

  • Goodtimes Infant School Kawempe (CHAMPIONS)
  • Twinbrook Schools
  • Kawempe Muslim Primary School
  • St Catherine Primary School
  • Zahir Schools
  • St Lawrence Primary School

Girls League: Empowering Female Footballers

The Sokolo Girls League, held on May 11th, 2024, saw 10 teams compete in a 9v9 format, with the best two teams advancing to the semi-finals and finals. The participating teams were:

  • Azteks Soccer Academy (CHAMPIONS)
  • El Cambio Academy
  • Women in Football Uganda
  • Kick it Soccer Academy
  • Dream Girls Soccer Academy
  • Benjamin Children Ministry
  • MBK Sport Line
  • Watoto Sports Academy
  • Chosen Girls Soccer Academy
  • Gifted Stars Soccer Academy

Achievements and Impact

We’re proud of our achievements over the past year, including:

  • Providing a platform for academies, schools, community teams, and girls-only teams to compete
  • Inspiring girls to join football and showcasing their talents
  • Enabling youth players to secure scholarships, such as Kevin Kaabali and Songa Samuel
  • Attracting sponsors like PIN YOGHURT to support our leagues
  • Giving playing time to numerous youth players, promoting active engagement in competitive football
