As we celebrate Lizzie Straver’s first month with Sokolo Foundation, we’re thrilled to share her inspiring story.

Finding a Sense of Family.

Lizzie, a volunteer from the Netherlands, has seamlessly integrated into our team. She’s been training football enthusiasts and lending a hand at the clubhouse.

“Working with the team has been a great experience. I feel part of a family. Everyone connects with me, shows interest, and offers help.” – Lizzie

Overcoming Challenges.

Initially, Lizzie struggled to adapt to Uganda’s “go-with-the-flow” culture.

“I was nervous and put pressure on myself to be perfect. But the coaches and colleagues listened, understood, and stood by me. Their empathy and openness gave me confidence.” – Lizzie

Success Story.

Lizzie’s greatest accomplishment: embracing flexibility.

“I’ve learned to make my own plans and improvise when needed. Sokolo helped me develop this valuable quality.” – Lizzie

Immersion in Ugandan Culture

Lizzie delights in Sokolo’s vibrant cultural scene.

“Everyone shares a strong connection through music and dancing. It’s wonderful to be part of.” – Lizzie
